What is a cool roof?

A “cool roof” is a roof designed to reflect solar radiation and store the minimum amount of heat, thus passively limiting the heating of the building, especially during the summer. Cool roofing thus improves the thermal comfort of a building and reduces the need for air conditioning. Often, the technologies used are white because the reflection of solar rays is maximized when the coating is white, which means that all visible sun rays are reflected.
